Lost Fine Art Majors

I recently met another fine art major who is working at something other than art.
Too bad,I am willing to bet the world is full of FAM, who didn't learn how to do the business part of the art life.
To top it off the FAM I met gave me an email that bounced back.
People like this are doomed to work drudgery jobs all their life.
Dang! Some people can't be helped.

Working Class Artist -Me

I like being a working class artist. My ambition is, to be able to heat and eat and make my work.I am writing this because, I was asked about being in catalog exhibitions. I just want to be free to do, what I want to do,I am doing exactly that.

Amping Up My Artlife

Every time I see some one holding a cardboard help sign. It reminds me to
amp up my art effort more. If I was on the street , I'd make some of the
coolest art signs , and I'd sell them s folk art.
I 'd be off that street post haste.

No Imagination

If public schools don't have the budget for art programs they could get companies to sponsor visiting artists. Five grand could allow several artists to visit schools.
Young people need to see and have contact with practicing artists, this would help dispel the starving artist idea. It takes imagination and a willingness to create a program such as this.
Imagination matters.

GEEEEZE!

I was in a gallery the other day. I mentioned that, I give talks to students
about Art as A Career. The gallery owner said , maybe the students should be discouraged from following art as a career.
Well, that got me started. I said artists made all of the graphic novels in the book stores, the children's books are written and illustrated by artists an how about the cartoons in the newspapers? I left before he could reply. Dang!
The guy is in the business, you'd think he'd be more positive.
